With the trampoline, each effect is one genericClosure step: the operator calls the handler, which returns a resume value (feed to the continuation, keep going) or an abort value (discard the continuation, halt immediately). Continuations compose via an FTCQueue, a purely functional queue with O(1) snoc and amortized O(1) uncons, which eliminates the left-nesting pathology that makes naive free monads quadratic.
